Positive Organ

This print of a positive organ was made in 1901. However the organ itself dates from the time of Louis XIII (1601-1643). In 1901 this organ was in the possession of the Conservatoire Royal in Brussels. I wonder if it is still there. I remember reading of a musical instrument museum in Brussels the last time I was there, unfortunately I didn't have time to visit. Maybe one day I'll pay it a visit.

Amazing Custom Pipe Organ

One thing I love about the organ fraternity is the impressiveness of some of their projects.

Like this organ built by Dr Ray of Connecticut over a period of over 50 years !

The pipework has come from many sources making this a real hybrid organ. But it also contains a Moller roll player unit with about 75 rolls, making it a player organ as well as a 'real' organ.

Not only that it also contains a Hammond model D tone generator, and chimes and xylophone clochettes.

It has been estimated that the present day cost to construct this instrument by a major organ builder would be about $350,000 to $499,000

It was on Ebay for a starting price of $20,000 but attracted no bids.

Midi Pipe Organ Module

Most keyboards have a pipe organ sound or two. If you really like the sound you can even by midi modules dedicated to pipe organ sounds. These things a pretty good, but perhaps lack that indefinable something.

So,  if you're really serious about getting a pipe organ sound for your midi setup then how about this ?

It's a midi controlled pipe organ module with 61 'stopped metal' flute pipes !
It has two stops, 8' and 4' and an air blower.

I believe this was made by the seller, who makes things like this as a hobby. It was for sale for £795 although reasonable offers would be considered.

Bach's Trio Sonata

This an outstanding video of Third movement from Bach's Trio Sonata VI being played on the organ of St Wenzels Church Naumburg.

Apparently Bach himself played the newly constructed organ around 1748.
