The most widely known use of the Celesta in classical music is almost certainly Tchaivoksky's 'Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy' from the Nutcracker. Here we see it danced by Larissa Lezhnina of the Kirov ballet company.
Victor Mustel invented the Dulcitone in 1860, but it was his son Auguste who invented the Celesta (or Celeste) in 1889. However this particular model was built by Victor and is clearly signed by him.
This one is ex-BBC from the Maida Vale studios and has been used and featured on many recordings and broadcasts over the years. It sold for £2,650 on Ebay. I think this is a good price - new ones are very expensive indeed.
This is a Jen-co Celeste, which is pretty much a glockenspiel with a keyboard which in turn makes it the grown up version of a toy piano. It does have full size keys though, and these are usually quite valuable. This one sold for US $1,450 (£772) on Ebay.
