I found this picture postcard on Ebay recently which was soon snapped up by a lucky collector. Look at the size of that accordion!

There are some very nice photos in the LIFE photo archive which Google are hosting.

This is 'Navy CPO Graham Jackson w. tears of grief streaming down his cheeks as he plays "Goin' Home" on the accordian as Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt's body is carried from the Warm Springs Foundation where he died suddenly on April 12 of a stroke'.

Irish Music that Swings!

I love it when Irish music really swings - it's infectious and inspiring, and always makes me wish I could play this style. So, I thought you'd all appreciate hearing these two fine examples.

Firstly, this is the David Munnelly Band, who are definitely worth checking out further.

And this is North Cregg, who I've seen perform a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed.

I found this a while back and forgot how awesome it is. This is Detektivbyrån from Sweden.

Some Gospel Music

The little harmonium made me wonder if there is any decent gospel music that uses accordion. I'm not aware of any, but that's probably because I don't know much about gospel music (although I have some great stuff from South Africa).

A quick search on YouTube did find this band though, Sons of Korah.

Nice enough, but nowhere near the brilliance of Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
