Bamboo Organs

This link is for Didier who wrote to me about his blog dedicated beautiful pipe organs.

This is a photo of an organ in the Phillipines. It is unusual in that it is made out of bamboo.
It was built between 1816 and 1824 and purportedly sounds quite unique.

And this is a press release for the "world's first bamboo pipe organ" in 1966. It was built in Tokyo. I don't know if this one still exists but the one in the Phillipines certainly does.
