When it comes to bandoneon players there is one player who is pre-eminent - Astor Piazzola.
This video is of one of his most wonderful compositions 'Adios Nonino', which I believe was written as a tribute to his father.

Thank You! That's so lovely. I thought I read in his biography that there were lyrics to that piece, but I haven't ever heard them.
Thank You SO Much for this video! I've been trying to figure out what that "scratchy-scratch" sound is for years! Was it made on the edge of the bellows? Did they just use a guiro (scratcher thing from Cuba)? No! The violinist plays on the wrong side of the bridge! I've been trying to figure that out for sooo long. Thank you.
I shared it with my four-year-old twins to explain why I was suddenly so excited. They thought it was cool too.
