There's an Ondioline on Ebay France !

I have never seen a decent photo of one of these before, so to see one for sale is a real treat.
With 6 days to go the bidding is already up to £103 - I suspect this will climb a lot higher.

Incidentally this one appears to be different to the one pictured on clavioline.com. It seems to be lacking the switches on the keyboard unit.

If that wasn't unusual enough there is also a rare 7" EP of Ondioline music from the 1960s. Apparently this record went for $405 the last time it was auctioned !

Update: The Ondioline sold for £583 (851 Euros), the EP didn't sell and has been relisted.

Rhodes CD Issued

Brilliant tribute the legendary Fender Rhodes electric piano, focusing on rare recordings from 1972-78, and compiled by Brown Sugar label mastermind Michael Möhring, who has this to say: “Like all great instruments, the Rhodes piano was something special from the very beginning. Not for the purists, who hated the upcoming of electric instruments, although many serious musicians in the '60s and '70s switched over. Pianists like Herbie Hancock, Cedar Walton, Ramsey Lewis and Donny Hathaway all played the Rhodes with passion and feeling. But it’s also the analogue warmth and deep vibe that catches the ears“.

Solovox - More Fun For Everyone

The Hammond Solovox was a Clavioline clone.

He's an advert for one from the 1950s.

Quality Flutinas For Sale

There's a couple of good quality flutinas on Ebay at the moment - if you've got lots of money.

This is an extremely rare item, in first-class order with perfect bellows (please read that again; I do mean perfect) and fully-sounding reeds.  24 mother-of-pearl keys, 26 mother-of-pearl valve buttons, and silver mounts.  The instrument is stamped 'J Russell, Maker, 60 Goswell St, London' in two places.

Most flutinas were produced between 1831 and 1880 and often had a very limited range; this one has the full compass and the standard of construction and quality of fitments is exceptional.

It is in full working order and represents the best period in London musical instrument making. The case has a working lock and key and is generally sound.

The next one is a Busson.

Here we have a lovely flutina that is stamped Busson Brevete Paris. Busson were the inventers of the flutina having made them since circa 1830. This example comes complete in a wonderfull lockable wooden case that has a front panel that drops down. The varnish and patination on the case is very nice indeed. The flutina is in very tidy and original condition with no restorations to my eye. Most of the pearl keys when pressed omit a good tone somewhere near tune. Please allow for some tuning and a service (oil etc). The bellows look to me to be in very nice condition. It is amazing to think that some thing so old could stay in such lovely condition.

Claviolines on Ebay

I wonder what the collective term for a clavioline is - clavioli perhaps or just plain claviolines ?

This week we have a Selmer Clavioline Concert Model which unusually still has it's stand.

Over in the USA there's this Gibson Clavioline which has been well photographed.
