Big Tune Of The Week

Thursday is almost the beginning of the weekend so it's time for my BIG tune of the week. This week I've got a monster, and something quite unusual too. It's a cumbia from Columbia (although I think Celso is actually Mexican) but unlike most cumbias which are a bit cheesy this is very cool with elements of rap and reggaeton in there too. It's by a guy called Celso Pina and it's the only track of his that I've got, I'd very much love to get some more though. The snippets on his recently launched website sound very promising. Mashup Of The Week

Mashup: the art of taking two or more completely unrelated pieces of music and squeezing them together to create an entirely new piece of music. I intend to feature my favourite mashups in my new 'Mashup Of The Week' feature. To hear each one you need to click the Mash Of The Week link on the left hand side of this site. This should hopefully open your preferred MP3 player and stream the track straight to you.

To kick us off we have an absolute beauty - 50 Cent (the rapper) meets Jimmy Shand (the twee Scottish accordian playing legend). It shouldn't work at all, but it does !

Gig Review

The gig in Norwich went well. I was pleasantly surprised at the large number of people who came, listened and clapped - Norwich seems to have appreciative audiences. We also had fun trying to find our way out of Norwich city centre - that is one big confusing one-way system !

Gig tonight

Hey I just got a call from Catherine Feeny (www.catherinefeeny.com). We've got a support slot tonight at the Norwich Arts Centre (http://www.norwichartscentre.co.uk/pages/events.html). After the success of last weekend's show in Belgium this should be a good one.
