Gig Review - Eliza Carthy and the Ratcatchers

Brilliant gig - from start to finish.

The band were superb featuring the heroic Boden and Spiers on fiddle, concertina, melodeon and backing vocals, and also Ben Ivitsky on viola, guitar and backing vocals, and some other bloke on tuba (sorry from where I was sitting I couldn't actually see who it was).

Eliza's voice was fantastic, definitely one of the best I've heard ever.

Special praise also go to the support band Mawkin, from Essex. They played some really good stuff and I preferred their own tunes to some of the covers.

Gig Review - Karine Polwart, Norwich Arts Centre, Nov 05

This was quite a good gig. Highlight of the show was the accordion player Ingrid who sang beautiful backing vocals.
The band also comprised double bass, electric guitar and drums as well as Karine herself on vocals and guitar.
My one criticism is that perhaps the arrangements were a little too clean and polished for my tastes.
