Toy instruments fascinate me. I guess most of us have happy memories of playing with such things.
So for the next few days I'm going to feature a few toy instruments that have caught my eye recently.
Like this for instance.
It's a electronic toy from the 1970s and sold for just £1.21 on Ebay recently.
I you had one, or have got one then please add a comment.
My "Toy Instruments" category has some other goodies too. Although some of my older archives are currently a big disorganised.
I have this toy. I had one as a kid but it broke. I found one on ebay some years ago. I love the toy as much as I did in the 70s.

I had one these as a kid and loved it! I remember annoying my parents with it many times!
Thank you for having a picture of it on your site, I've been searching for what it was called for ages! Nobody I know has ever heard of it.

My best friend had one ...she always had things before everyone else, and it was our favorite toy to play with. One day I was so jealous that she had it and wouldn't let me play with it that I smacked her across the face and we both got in trouble by her mother and she took it away. I don't know what ever happened to it, but I would love to replace it for her(i know...all these years later...but it would mean alot) So if anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know :)

I am looking for one of these for my mother, as our well loved MMT was lost in her house fire a few years ago. I think she would have gone back into the flames to get it, if she would have had the chance.
If any of you are interested in selling yours for the holidays, please feel free to email me at nicmackey@insightbb.com

I had one when I was little and let me tell you that it KILLLLLED me when my mother left it behind when we moved and then refused to get me another one. I have been looking for one (off and on) over the past few months. I missed the one that you guys say was on ebay DARNIT!
Anyway....I'd be willing to spend up to about 30 bucks or so on a fully functional one and maybe more if it still has the box and book! So if anyone has one and needs the cash....and would like to make a 36 year olds dream come true, just email me at tooofasttt4u@yahoo.com
THANKS!

had one! mine was aqua colored on top, not white. i loved it but was too young and impatient to ever master anything other than scrambled strumming of those awesome space age color pads. now i imagine any working ones are bought up by chip and hack musicians, but i guess i could check ebay anyway.
good memories

I have bought one for our school's battle of the bands. I'm going to be strapping it behind my bass and taking out for a dueling bit with our saxophonist, who will be playing recorder.

A magical music jam with recorder, that sounds brilliantly funny.

I had it and loved playing random keys. I couldn't play real music unless it was from the book that came with it though. I just got Guitar Hero today and remembered that the MMT was my first musical electronic toy and googled the MMT.

Thank you! THANK YOU! Thank you for posting this!! I have been plugging bits and pieces of what I remembered of this contraption that was my sister's (but we all shared!) toy into search engines for years now! And finally, paydirt!! I loved this toy and we had it for years (I believe it was thrown away sometime in the early 90's thanks to severe battery compartment corrosion!). If I knew how much I was going to miss it, I would've saved it and found some brilliant electrician to repair it for me! And now it has a name!!! I saw this picture in a Google search for '70's musical instruments' and my heart flipped! Being born in the later 70's I couldn't figure out the decade to which it belonged. Now I want one again! I'm just so happy because I tried to describe it to people to find out what it was and people would look at me as if I were completely mad! The colored vinyl keypad, the electronically toned feedback, the blue plastic backing! I could pass out on nostalgia! Great seeing my 'keyboard' again!
